The Gran Canaria Pro-Am will re-unite the best of the best here in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria this week to battle it out for the World Championship Crown, so there will be no shortage of action and drama as it all comes down to the wire:

Men: Watch out for the usual names in the Men’s division, with Sean Poynter looking to build on his impressive start to the 2018 season in New York, with team mate and good friend Zane Schweitzer right on his heels. However, right behind these top two athletes is a very complete field of talent, with a clear and focused purpose in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: Poenaiki Raioha from Tahiti showed flashes of brilliance in New York and has long been a clear Contender for the Title on the APP World Tour, and with conditions that certainly suit his surfing better on offer on the island, he is certainly one to look out for.

Meanwhile from Brazil comes a wealth of new talent that certainly made their presence felt in New York, as Luis Diniz wowed the crowds with his progressive style and Wellington Reis with his speed, power and flow. Both these athletes will be looking for a strong finish in the Gran Canaria Pro-Am. Also to watch out for, among others, are Mo Freitas from Hawaii, Sebastian Gomez from Peru and Benoit Carpentier from France, not to mention the 2012 World Champion Leco Salazar.

Women: Iballa Moreno will be looking to maintain poile position, after an impressive performance at the New York leg of the Tour, while 2013 World Champion Nicole Pacelli has her sights clearly set on bring the World Title back to Brazil. However, Izzi Gomez will be looking to come back from her uncharacteristically slow start back in New York, as she strives to maintain her position on top of the World in 2018.

Beyond these talented athletes, watch out for the ever impressive Terrene Black, but also for a comeback by Shakira Westdorp from Australia, who faltered in New York and will be looking for redemption in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Dominique Miller from Hawaii had a breakthrough performance in New York, so will be to maintain that great start to the yea, while Vania Olivieri Torres from Peru continues to look dangerous and will be striving for a solid result to wrap the 2018 season.
