Registration is NOW OPEN for the Gran Canaria Pro-Am! Make sure to get your entry in now for this dramatic close to the 2018 season on the beautiful North Shore of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from the 11th - 20th December 2018.
GRAN CANARIA PRO-AM OPEN TRIALS WELCOMES MEN & WOMEN TO SURF COMPETITION
The Gran Canaria Pro-Am will feature an Open Trials for both Men and Women followed by the Main Event for the APP Surfing World Championship Tour. The Top 2 Pro-Am Men and Top 2 Pro-Am Women from the Trials will earn a spot in the Main Event to surf alongside the Pros. There will also be a Youth Division, as in all APP World Tour Surfing Stops, with multiple divisions for youth to step up and be a part of this final event for the year.
The event features a 9-day holding period to provide the best opportunity for good surf and a great event for everybody. The Open Trials competition decides the final 4 spots in the Main Event, followed by the spectacular surf competition to feature a showcase of the world’s best athletes.
The Heat Draw will be published prior to the event and displayed at the Opening Welcome Party on Monday, 10th December, 2018.
DUNKERBECK SUP CHALLENGE: DEC. 16TH, 2018 IN MOGAN, GRAN CANARIA
To add to the excitement, the week also hosts an all inclusive Open European Championship stand up paddle race hosted by the Dunkerbeck SUP Challenge on Gran Canaria on 16th December, 2018. This event is supported by the APP with a clear goal to continue to grow the sport around the globe, uniting professional athletes with amateurs in a unique competitive setting. The distance event will be held on the 16th of December in Mogan, Gran Canaria (south of the island). More information is available at sup-grancanaria.com.
LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA: CENTRAL ACTION
Playa El Lloret, where the central action is to take place for the APP World Tour, is on the North coast of Gran Canaria in the capital of Las Palmas. The city of Las Palmas is 30KM north of the airport, an easy coastal drive. The event site is close to the Auditoro and the shopping centre, Las Arenas.
Opening night, December 10th, features the official registration and athlete check-in, as well as opening protocol for the event.
Each day conditions will be monitored closely with a daily call anticipated for 7AM as to whether conditions dictate the event will be run or not that day. The surf competition commences with the Open Trials event.
