We are now weeks away from the crowning glory of the APP World Tour: Paris, France on December 8 & 9th, 2018.
PARIS SETS THE STAGE FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CROWNING
At the Paris SUP Open, it will come down to the wire, as the 2018 APP World Racing Champions will be crowned: It is to be a race of all-time.
Not only are the world’s best athletes gathering in one of the most iconic settings along the Seine River in Paris, France but this event will also be the largest SUP race in the history of the sport.
WORLD CHAMPIONS CROWNED IN PARIS: WHO WILL IT BE?
On the Pro side, Paris’ distance and sprint courses will set the best of the best against each other in a grand finale of SUP racing. France’s native son Arthur Arutkin comes home to this event in the top spot among the men. This is sure to set the hometown crowd on fire!
Arthur is followed closely by Aussie legend Michael Booth and Hawaii’s fastest paddler Connor Baxter . Both of these fierce contenders showed strong presence in previous APP World Tour stops, London and New York. Booth and Baxter are clearly building steam throughout this year’s Tour. Strong performances from either of them could easily upset Arutkin’s plans for top placement on the podium.
Currently in 4th place, but never to be forgotten, is Danish champion Casper Steinfath. Casper, as we have seen over and again, can never be discounted from the standings. The young viking’s grit and determination could be a deciding factor of who will share in the limelight among the top three spots on the podium.
On the women’s pro side, powerhouse Shae Foudy is currently in the lead coming into the Paris event. She is followed closely & hotly by the resurgence of Candice Appleby‘s formidable power. These two Infinity teammates will surely see a classic showdown on the Seine as both women vie for the top spot to be crowned champion to culminate the year!
In a battle for third place are 3 magnificent ladies: Terrene Black, Yuka Sato and Manca Notar. Terrene has been steady and consistent throughout the Tour, taking top seed in the New York Sprints with a very savvy move that put her out front.
Yuka and Manca, both strong in London had some missteps along the remainder of the Tour’s season dropping them from the top podium spots. However, we know that these fiery females will come to Paris looking for redemption so the race for third will be a thrill to watch.
LARGEST SUP RACE ON THE PLANET: PARIS CAPS PARTICIPATION AT 800
The City Paddle Festival sensation that will partake in the Paris SUP Open gathers a full-house for the Open Division on the Seine.
APP World Tour directors and race coordinators have capped the crowds at 800, drawn from a lottery system, in order to set the new World Record of largest SUP race in history.
This magnificent event will be the final setting for the racing circuit on the 2018 APP World Tour as we will see 800 racers on the River Seine in a grand finale to remember.
Hosted with the Nautic Salon Nautique, a world renowned boat show in Paris, the APP World Tour’s final stop will hold SUP Demos, Free Classes, Live Music, Meet the Pros, Yoga and so much more. Even if one does not participate in the events on the water, there is plenty to do for the whole family to enjoy.
An exciting time is ahead! Remember there will be LIVE FEED action to watch the events here at APPworldtour.com. You can also watch via our Facebook Live broadcast on the 8th & 9th of December as well.
Viva la Paris! See you there!
