U.S. Cup: New Paradigm of SUP Racing Ignites at Carolina Cup

In an exciting kick-off to the 2019 APP World Tour racing season, the action will begin this weekend at the renowned Carolina Cup in North Carolina. Creating a partnership with the WPA, the Association of Paddle Professionals now includes the Carolina Cup in their ranking system for this year's U.S Cup of stand up paddle racing.



Top level athletes like Travis Grant and Connor Baxter are expected to be on the start line at this year's Carolina Cup to kick off another blazing hot year of SUP racing. What's your prediction for the 2019 World Champ?

What does this mean?


I. The APP World Tour Media Team will be in Wrightsville Beach to film the legendary Graveyard race and offer a LIVE FEED on the Carolina Cup's website as well as the APP's Facebook page. You can watch the action live from home and get the up close perspective that only APP media can provide.


II. It means that the Pros will begin accumulating points towards the overall win for this year's U.S. Cup, which includes a dynamic grouping of world class events resulting in a champion holding the most points at the end of the U.S. Cup season. It all starts this month with the Carolina Cup on April 27th, 2019 followed closely by the Salt Life Columbus Cup on May 4th, 2019 in Columbus, Georgia.


III. The Carolina Cup also signifies the launch of the APP's 2019 Qualifying Series for the 2020 World Tour wherein the Top 5 Men and Top 5 Women of the U.S. Cup - excluding already qualified APP World Tour athletes - will be automatically qualified to compete on the Pro level next season. This Qualifying Series features many of North America's showcase stand up paddle racing events including:


Carolina Cup, North Carolina Salt Life Columbus Cup, Georgia Olukai Ho'olaulea, Hawaii, SIC Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge, Hood River, New York SUP Open, Long Beach Battle of the Bay, San Francisco.





Are you ready? This weekend in Wrightsville Beach at the Carolina Cup is the LAUNCH of a new beginning of SUP racing where the Pros compete for points towards the 2019 World Title and Amateurs can rank themselves towards competing on APP World Tour circuit for 2020.
